Luxury fashion designer Sergio Hudson and bold jewelry designer Simone I. Smith join forces for an exclusive 28-piece collection inspired by Adinkra symbolism, set to debut on the runway at Hudson’s 10th anniversary show.
Known for their sharp, heritage-rooted design perspectives, both brands bring a distinct yet complementary sensibility to the collaboration. Unveiled at the intersection of Black History Month and New York Fashion Week, the collection reflects a shared commitment to culture, craftsmanship, and storytelling through fashion. “Just seeing it all come together, I’m really focusing in on each look and making it a moment. I want each look to speak to something,” Sergio shares. “I think they’ll expect what I always bring to the table, but this time, heightened.”
Each jewelry piece is crafted in 18K yellow gold over sterling silver and adorned with brilliant simulated diamonds. Select styles feature carved mother-of-pearl or onyx inlays, alongside cultured freshwater pearls. From statement necklaces to sculptural earrings, the collection balances strength and refinement through elevated craftsmanship and modern form. For Simone, the symbolism is the soul of the collection. “What’s really great about it is that all of the pieces are African tribal symbols,” she explains, representing Abundance, God’s Child, God’s Protection, Greatness, and Patience. Drawing direct inspiration from the Akan tribe of Ghana, the Adinkra symbols carry layered meanings that are both deeply rooted and universally resonant, designed to be worn, felt, and interpreted by everyone.
The collaboration was a natural fit. Longtime admirers of each other’s work, Simone describes Sergio’s designs as “elegant,” pointing to his sharp ability to sculpt womenswear, while Sergio calls Simone’s pieces “signature” — especially her large hoops, which he says are “iconic to the culture.”
“I’m known for suits, she’s known for hoops,” he adds with a chuckle. Together, they bridge their creative signatures — tailoring and statement jewelry — to create something that honors heritage while pushing their artistry forward. “The clothes are for women who know fashion, who know style, who want to look and feel good,” Simone says, noting how her pieces seamlessly complement Sergio’s designs.
The Simone I. Smith Jewelry x Sergio Hudson collection reinterprets African-inspired elements through a modern luxury lens and will be available for purchase beginning Friday, February 13, 2026, exclusively at simoneismith.com.
