Golden Mindset, Inclusive Impact: A Conversation with Ezra Frech

Not everyone defines “going for gold” the same way. For Paralympic athletes like Ezra Frech, it’s about soaring high above limitations, shattering stereotypes, and redefining what it means to be an exceptional athlete and advocate. Ezra isn’t just aiming for gold but is using his platform to make an impact on the adaptive sports community in Los Angeles. Ezra’s story is one of unwavering dedication and a relentless pursuit of pushing boundaries. 

“I truly feel that my larger purpose on this planet is to redefine and normalize the image of disability.”

Born a congenital amputee, Ezra defied limitations from a young age, competing alongside able-bodied athletes in his early career. However, a pivotal moment arrived at age eight, when a visit to a para competition with his father ignited a passion for adaptive sports. Witnessing Ezra excel in the right environment, a powerful promise was made. Ezra and his father vowed to bring para events to Southern California, and with that dedication, their charity, “Angel City Sports,” was born.

In our conversation, Ezra elaborated on his impactful work With “Angel City Sports,” a Los Angeles non-profit that removes barriers to athletics by offering year-round inclusive programming for people with disabilities. Ezra’s commitment to “Angel City Sports” makes him the perfect fit for P&G’s “Athletes For Good” program. Thanks to P&G’s generous grant, Ezra and “Angel City Sports” will continue to break down barriers and create transformative experiences for athletes with disabilities. Ezra’s passion for “Angel City Sports” perfectly aligned with the program’s mission to support athletes who champion positive change, a testament to his impactful work.

“The meaning behind everything I do is to normalize disability and to be an example of what is possible as an amputee.”

Beyond his athletic achievements, Ezra is a champion for disability advocacy both on and off the screen. He will soon be featured in the upcoming film “Rising Phoenix: A New Revolution,” a collaboration between P&G Studios and Harder Than You Think Production. This film, like Ezra’s own story, highlights the importance of representation. Just as impactful as seeing diverse faces on screen is having those same voices shaping the narrative behind the camera. Ezra Understands the power of representation, actively leveraging his social media platforms to advocate for accessibility and inspire others to push their own boundaries. 

“It’s easy to get caught up in the likes, views, and comments on social media, but the way I like to structure it is that for every like, view, and comment, disability is now slightly more normalized. Never in the history of the world have we ever been able to reach so many people by the touch of a button, and I think that’s really special.”
