After graduating from high school, most people do not have a music career waiting for them once they turn their tassel. For 18-year-old, Athens, Georgia native, Lil Darius, building his career path early was the best way for him to break into the industry.
Up-and-coming rapper Lil Darius’ newest song, “About Us” produced by Tay Keith, was recently released. In the video, the rapper is featured alongside influencer Alabama Barker for what he described as a “fun”-filled shoot.
“We weren’t really trying to do too much,” Darius said. “We were just going around LA, you know, just having fun…The video turned out well though, me and my cameraman really worked on it together, so it was just a good experience all around.”
Working with Tay Keith is an impressive career milestone, as the producer has worked with successful artists like Drake, Gucci Mane and is well-known for producing Travis Scott’s “Sicko Mode.”
Darius did not take his experience working with the producer lightly and shared how the producer gave him valuable career advice.
“Really just to stay humble and stay grounded all the time. Keep working, staying consistent.”

I also asked the rapper about how he was able to stay motivated and maintain his work ethic, while in high school, to build his career as an artist.
“You just got to know how to prioritize things the right way”, Darius said. “Have a good, stable team behind you. I guess you could say my team helped me get through a lot of that.”
As 2023 is slowly coming to a close, Lil Darius reflected on his hopes for the new year with a positive outlook.
“Every year gets bigger, getting more fans. I’m just excited to put out new music and make my fans happy and gain new supporters… No telling what the new year might bring.”
Lil Darius is slated to drop a joint mixtape with Tay Keith titled “Yung N Turnt” on November 8.
