After signing with CMG in 2020, where Gotti gifted him a an iced-out CMG chain, it’s been nothing but up for Memphis rapper Big Boogie. After experimenting with drums in high school Boogie eventually found his way to rapping which became his true passion.
After generating local buzz he landed on Yo Gotti’s radar and the rest is history. Boogie performed back to back at Gotti’s birthday party and continued to release a strong body of work before signing with CMG. Boggie dominated 2022 alone after “releasing his UNDERRATED project that debuted at No. 9 onΒ Spotifyβs Top Albums Chart and his single βPop Outβ reached No. 11Β on the Urban Mainstream charts and his video for βPussy Power (Remix)β featuring Moneybagg YoΒ peaked at No. 24 on YouTube Musicβs Trending chart.”Β Today Boogie joins us to discuss what he’s learned over the past three years, his latest project Definition of Big Dude and his relationship with Yo Gotti and MoneyBagg Yo.
The Knockturnal: How old were you when you first started experimented with music? Is it true your introduction to music was through playing drums?
Big Boogie: 21. I was a bad student so I had this one coach who literally forced me into band and I didnβt want to be in the band but he was life you finna do something with yourself and thatβs how I got in it.Β
The Knockturnal: What motivated you to pursue music Seriously as a career?Β
Big Boogie: Knowing that I can go far.Β
The Knockturnal: Was there anyone around you who motivated you to take it seriously?
Big Boogie: My best friend, he was rapping before me and he liked it, but he ainβt have the tools that I had. We got two different lives so I live different from him so people that I mess with donβt know him, so itβs like he really stood back and let me do what I did and I took off with it.
The Knockturnal: Was your family supportive of your music dreams when you were younger?
Big Boogie: yeah, my mamaβs kids and some of my cousins, but everybody else was shocked. They really didnβt know, they wereβnβt paying attention at firs until I got to that certain level and then it was like oh thatβs my cousin.
The Knockturnal: How does it feel to be signed to CMG and among one of the hottest rosters in the game?
Big Boogie: Feel good to me I donβt plan on losing. Feel good to me because I know Iβm doing what I got to do and the team already doing what they got to do anyways. Itβs so much power in one.
The Knockturnal: Whatβs the most important thing youβve learned over the past 3 years since signing?
Big Boogie: Stay focused and just be you.Β
The Knockturnal: Whatβs the most important lesson that Yo Gottiβs taught you or youβve learned from being around him?
Big Boogie: Chase the dream, just have fun with it. Donβt be worried about how much money you making and how much money you can make and just have fun with it because the money already there.Β
The Knockturnal: Can you talk about your relationship with Moneybagg Yo? Whatβs it been like having him as a mentor?
Big Boogie: Our bond real good, when we see each other itβs everything, he around the world, Iβm around the world so we really just canβt like that but when we talk he dropping the jewels on me and he telling me same thing how he move. He my homework. So I just sit back and pay attention not him on certain levels and thatβs how it go. He was going to jail a lot but he stopped it though, he learned how to stop it, he just really stopped being an outside person and started being an inside person, but when heβs outside heβs really about business.
The Knockturnal: The title sounds pretty self explanatory but in your own words what led you to choose this title? Definition of Big Dude?
Big Boogie: Everything that the devil tried to play with me with it ainβt happening and I just stayed 10 with it so I know God all over me so I donβt really care about what go left because itβs gonna come back around.
The Knockturnal: What are you saying to your fans with this project?
Big Boogie: Itβs the real me, itβs showing my fans that I grew. Showing them that a lot changed, I gained weight a little bit, I look different. Just showing them my growth.

Big Boogie: I love my whole album, but my top 3, βTwelve Four,β βPussy Monsterβ and βMind Frameβ
The Knockturnal: Who is your dream collab?
Big Boogie: My only dream collab is Akon.Β

Big Boogie: More visuals on the way and I got a documentary coming soon. I just dropped a video for βTwelve Four.βΒ
