The Addams Family is back with a star studded cast and a fresh, new political take on what it’s like to be different. This animated reboot of the classic film brings in laughs for children while weaving in humor for adults as well, making it fun for the entire family.
Oscar Isaac, Chloe Grace Moretz, Nick Kroll, and more lend their voice to this feel good comedy with a few musical numbers sure to get stuck in your head.
The film retells the Addams Family story, showing their exile and move to the Addams Family Mansion. After a new town is built at the bottom of the hill on which their mansion lays, the citizens decide their house needs a makeover.
One thing the film does a great job at is its political commentary, which is pretty obvious but makes it more fun to watch. The main antagonist, Margaux Needler (voiced by Allison Janney) is the human embodiment of gentrification and the name of the town is Assimilation.
The children are a lot of fun, both showing the different sides of being a sad soul. Our favorite emo character Wednesday is back, with her hair tied into nooses, the only way to properly display her dark personality, and quotes that parallel everyone’s diaries in middle school.
Pugsley keeps the energy up with his hijinks and pranks including missiles and grenades for a majority of the movie, exploding just about anything he can.
The Addams Family can still be seen in select theaters.
