Rémy Martin launched their sixth season of the Rémy Producers Competition at the Live Nation headquarters in NYC.
This competition is designed to discover and celebrate upcoming and aspiring music producers as they compete for a chance to win the competition. For season six, Rémy collaborated with Grammy Award-winning producer Jermaine Dupri, who will be the face of this year’s competition and hand-select this season’s winner. Jermaine Dupri said “Rémy Producers is a program I strongly believe in because it supports emerging music proudcers and creatives by providing a platform for them to be seen and heard”.
Kicking off the 2019 Rémy Producers events, Rémy Martin and Live Nation, the world’s largest live entertainment company, hosted a Music Producers Summit at the Live Nation HQ. The event featured two panel discussions and live producer and DJ sessions. The firs panel was the Women Shaping The Sound panel, that consisted of songwriter and producer TRAKGIRL, Senior Vice President of concerts at Live Nation Stacie George, Senior Vice President for Urban A&R at Atlantic Records Lanre Gaba, Senior Vice President for Urban Promotion at RCA Records Sam Selolwane, and the panel was moderated by Miss Info. The panel discussed how each of them got their start in the music industry in their respective roles, and what their process was like breaking into this heavily male dominated field and how they were able to be successful. They also discussed their inspirations and how the music industry landscape has changed since they first started.
The second panel was the Collective Success panel with Jermaine Dupri and Grammy Award-winning producers Zaytoven and Boi-1da and was hosted by DJ Envy. This panel discussed each of the producers’ definition of collective success and who were some of their inspirations and who were the most creative people they’ve worked with in the music industry. They also discussed different methods they use to stay motivated that could potentially inspire up and coming producers.
The Rémy Producers Competition has officially begun, encouraging aspiring beat makers of all experience levels to submit their tracks to the official program website: RemyProducers.com. There will be four regional competitions across the United States in Los Angeles, New York, Chicago and Miami from August to September that will be judged by Jermaine Dupri, TRAKGIRL, Zaytoven and Boi-1da. The finale of the competition will be in Atlanta where the final four will battle to be the last standing. The winning producer will earn a five-song contract with SO SO Def Records.
