What can fans expect from the new season?

Marina Squerciati: Even though we’re a procedural, what’s so great is that we’re still dealing with the death of one our main characters and that we’re allowed to explore that. We want ideally anyone to tune in at any time and know what’s going on, but it’s so great that these characters are still mourning Elias Koteas’ character in different ways.

And what has been the highlight of being on this show? It’s six seasons in and it has such a massive following.

Marina Squerciati: I have to say I love my fellow actors and I really like Dick Wolf. He’s a really nice, interesting man that I enjoy. So, getting to know all these interesting people and being in Chicago, so we all hang out together ’cause no one knew anyone in Chicago, has been a gift.

Speaking of Chicago, what are some of your favorite things to do or places to go?

Marina Squerciati: Au Cheval for burgers. I really want to go to this place called Mini Mott. I’ve been following them on Instagram and they have an ice cream sundae that looks so amazing, that as soon as I land on Friday, I’m gonna go get it.

And what does it mean to you to be a part of the NBC family?

Marina Squerciati: As an actor on a basic level … to have a steady gig, it’s pretty amazing and I’m really grateful and really enjoy it and everyone I work with has been an added bonus.

The twentieth season of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit will premiere on Thursday, Sept. 27 at 9/8c with a two-part premiere episode. The legendary Ice-T plays Odafin “Fin” Tutuola.

Can you reflect on the 20th season kicking off?

Ice-T: We’ve shot about five shows. I think we’re really got some really strong shows coming out the gate. I mean, they really want to knock this one out the park. They want to get to 21, but they want to do it strong.

Is the writing better than ever?

Ice-T: I usually can tell you what’s bad. So far, they haven’t given me any scenes that I thought were weird, or corny, or fake, so yeah. It’s good. They got the tone, and they’re just rocking it out this year. Everybody’s in good spirits. It’s a very fun environment.

Speak about filming in New York all of these years.

Ice-T: Well, I’m from L.A., so I ended up transplanted here to do four episodes. Now, I’ve been here 20 years. There’s no place better to shoot than New York. There’s never a dull moment. We can walk out this door, across the street, there’s another party just as hot. I love shooting in New York.

In the six-episode competition Making It, eight of the most talented makers from across the country take on a variety of handmade projects with the hopes of impressing Amy Poehler, Nick Offerman and expert judges, Simon Doonan and Dayna Isom Johnson.

Tell us about your show.

Dayna Isom Johnson:  I’m a judge on Making It, alongside the wonderful Simon Doonan and our hostw are the incredible Amy Poehler and Nick Offerman and our show, the goal is really to inspire people to get creative and to make something.

And how did you get involved?

Dayna Isom Johnson: My name was tossed in the hat to be a part of the show and boy, am I happy that I was. I’m so proud to be a part of a show that really has deeper meaning and really inspires people.

What’s it like to work with Amy Poehler?

Dayna Isom Johnson: Amazing. To work alongside of her and see Amy really be in her element was so inspiring to me as a woman, even though I’m not a comedian, I’m not an actress, but she’s a true powerhouse and it was an honor.
