On an unseasonably warm Thursday evening in New York, two well-respected and enduring family-owned menswear brands combined to launch a pop-up shop that’s never been done before.
David Donahue, the menswear brand known as “luxury with its sleeves rolled up” launched a pop-up shop at Rothmans New York. While the brand can be found at Nordstrom and other select retailers, this is the first time they have their full line on display at a retail store. The event was hosted by CEO Rob Donahue, son of the original founder and brand namesake, David Donahue. Rob was a gracious host who was proud to share the story of the brand’s beginnings that included his father making cufflinks and tuxedo jewelry to him taking over the brand and deciding to extend first to ties and cummerbunds and later to a full fledged menswear line.
On top of featuring the incredible Fall 2017 line, the event also mixed in Fashion Week elements including live music from Justin Jordan, beer & wine tastings, and a raffle for free merchandise.
Complete with media personalities, select guests, and former NHL player and current NBC Sportscaster Anson Carter, the event had an intimate and premium feel. It’s clear that the David Donahue employees (only 18 in total) take pride in the products they produce and in building relationships with their customers.
I can say that the brand lives up to laid-back luxury theme, the details and design elements from the stitching to the buttons feel premium and almost as if you had the piece custom made. The collection’s range includes dress and sports shirts, tailored clothing, pants, knits, outerwear, evening wear, and accessories including ties, pocket squares and cuff links, so there is something for any occasion.
If you’re in the market to upgrade your wardrobe, definitely check out the the pop up shop that will run at Rothmans NYC location (222 Park Avenue, New York, NY) through November 15th.
