WGN America Unveils Teaser for ‘Underground’

Underground is slated to premiere in early 2016.

Set in a desperate and dangerous time, the Underground Railroad escape thriller series tells the unflinching story of a group of plantation slaves that band together for the fight of their lives – for their families, their future and their freedom. Hailing from creators and executive producers Misha Green (Sons of Anarchy, Heroes) and Joe Pokaski (Daredevil, Heroes), and executive producer and Academy Award®-winner John Legend.

Underground tells the story of revolutionaries who use their ingenuity, power and perseverance to attempt the greatest escape in history despite the dire consequences that awaited them on the other side.

The provocative original series stars Jurnee Smollett-Bell (True Blood, Friday Night Lights), Aldis Hodge (Straight Outta Compton), Christopher Meloni (Sin City: A Dame to Kill For), Alano Miller (Jane The Virgin), ‎Jessica de Gouw (Arrow, Dracula), Marc Blucas (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), ‎Adina Porter (The 100), Mykelti Williamson (Justified, 24), ‎Amirah Vann (Girls, And So It Goes), Johnny Ray Gill, Chris Chalk, Reed Diamond, Theodus Crane, Renwick Scott and Jussie Smollett.

Underground is executive produced by Misha Green, Joe Pokaski, Academy Award-winning writer Akiva Goldsman of Weed Road Pictures, Tory Tunnell and Joby Harold of Safehouse Pictures, and John Legend, who also oversees the score, soundtrack and all music elements of the series, with his partners Mike Jackson and Ty Stiklorius of Get Lifted.
