‘The Voice’ Season 13 Premiere Features Massive Voices and a Brand New Coach

NBC’s smash hit singing-competition series ‘The Voice”returns Monday for a 13th stellar season with bigger voices and a brand new coach, Oscar and Grammy Award winner Jennifer Hudson.

She’s the first ‘The Voice” coach who’s competed in a TV-singing competition – I still cant believe she didn’t win – and she’s the reigning champion judge of ‘The Voice: UK”. Needless to say, I like her odds in her first stint judging the US version.

The network screened the Season 13 premiere for a packed theater of journalists and fans.

‘This is a season of big voices,” said executive producer Audrey Morrissey, who was joined in the theater by Season 12 winner Chris Blue.

Blue recently signed a management deal with “The Voice” coach Alicia Keys, who guided him to victory. He said while being on the show is fun, it’s no cake walk.

“My hat goes off to everyone that even steps on that stage and gives it a shot,” he said.

The premiere episode features instantly-iconic performances. NYC’s Chris Weaver turns in a stunning rendition of ‘Try a Little Tenderness’ that takes the judges to church and back. He brings soul and, dare I say, tenderness to this classic tune, and turns both heads and chairs with his performance and backstory.

I’ve been a fan of the show since it’s inception, and I’m more excited than ever. Kudos to NBC and ‘The Voice” team for keeping things thrilling after all these years.

Be sure to check out the two-night premiere event Monday and Tuesday at 8/7c.
