Season two of the show premieres on September 26. We spoke with star Thomas Barbusca. Check out our exclusive interview below:

The Knockturnal: How do you think you’ve progressed as an actor since you started out in the business.

Thomas Barbusca: I think I’m growing everyday as an actor and working with so many great people is teaching me new stuff everyday.

The Knockturnal: Would you say you see yourself acting in the future or is there something else you would like to see yourself doing?

Thomas Barbusca: I’m probably going to be acting, I hope, for the rest of my career but I definitely want to get into like directing my writing.

The Knockturnal: How do you think your role on ‘The Mick’ really adds to the story line?

Thomas Barbusca: Chip is pretty much that kid that’s in every family, he’s the teenager that’s always right. He doesn’t have fear when it comes to challenging authority especially Mickey. So he’s pretty much going to challenge anyone, he’s still learning boundaries and finding himself. I think that’s what makes him so fun to play.

The Knockturnal: What should the audience expect in the next season? What should your fans expect?

Thomas Barbusca: Crazy stuff, a lot is going on with the house burning down. Mickey is going to do her best with finding out a new plan and solution.

The Knockturnal: What about the show made you go out for the role? What about this character interested you?

Thomas Barbusca: When I read the script, it was hilarious and I loved it so much, the energy in the script was great. And as soon as I found out ‘Kaitlin’ was attached to it from, Always Sunny, that was like a big thing for me because I’m a big fan of that show and a big fan of her. That’s kinda why brought me into it.

The Knockturnal: Would you say it’s easy to get along with your cast mates and on set family?

Thomas Barbusca: Yeah, they’re all family. We’ve been here for about a year now and we’ve gotten to know each other so well and we spend so much time together that we are like a big family now.

The Knockturnal: Besides acting what are your interests? What other things do you like to do?

Thomas Barbusca: I really like basketball, like watching it. Obviously I don’t play it, I’m garbage. Watching it is really fun with my friends on the weekends or whenever I really can. The Sopranos, I decided to start watching it, it’s a great show. I’d rather watch that show than hang out with my friends at the moment. I’m on hiatus right now so I’ve been lying in bed and watching the Sopranos all week.

The Knockturnal: Would you say you have a favorite team for basketball?

Thomas Barbusca: I really really like the Knicks, the Bulls, and the Lakers.

The Knockturnal: Would say balancing school and your career from such a young age has ever been difficult?

Thomas Barbusca: I wouldn’t say difficult, obviously not a lot of kids like school and I’m homeschooled so it’s just trying to find that balance between work and homeschool. For the most part it hasn’t been really difficult.

The Knockturnal: Who is someone you’d like to costar with in the future or anyone (Dead or alive)?

Thomas Barbusca: All time probably Robert De Niro and James Gandolfini.

The Knockturnal: Any reason why them in particular?

Thomas Barbusca: I love acting feels real and authentic , those are two prime examples of that kind of acting of where they don’t look like they’re acting. It looks like two actual people and everything they do. Obviously I’m a big fan of that and to costar with them is the goal I’m trying to get at.

The Knockturnal: What kind of music are you interested in?

Thomas Barbusca: My favorite genre is hip hop and my favorite artist is, that’s a hard one. Hold on let me look in my playlist so I can give you my favorite artist. I’m looking at my playlist right now and there’s a lot of names but I’m just gonna have to go with Travis Scott. Definitely one of  favorites at the moment.

The Knockturnal: Have you ever seen him live?

Thomas Barbusca: I have not but I’m gonna see him in September. Everyone tells me he’s amazing live so I’m really excited.
