The Sun Rose West Hollywood – A Hotel You Won’t Want to Leave

Set right in the heart of West Hollywood, The Sun Rose West Hollywood makes getting around Los Angeles feel easy.

Everything I had planned, from dinners to a quick stop at Erewhon, was just minutes away, but the hotel itself was just as tempting to stay in for.

The hotel’s design immediately sets the tone. Rooms are elevated with a flair, featuring a king bed with sweeping views over West Hollywood, layered in a palette of blue and yellow with metallic accents, mirrors, and subtle cheetah details that give the space personality without overwhelming it. A loveseat creates a space to comfortably unwind, while the spacious, modern bathroom adds to the overall luxurious stay. Small details, like dimmable lighting, make nights feel thoughtful for guests as they wind down.

When my guest and I arrived, we were welcomed with in-room amenities including fresh fruit, a bottle of Avaline prosecco, a chocolate dessert, and both still and sparkling water. We were also welcomed with a chic sweatsuit, hat, and tote, Sun Rose-branded, that I will definitely be taking back home with me.

Mornings begin with breakfast at Ospero, the hotel’s on-site restaurant, where breakfast rivals any neighboring café. A strong matcha, an array of breakfast options, and fresh pastries make it an easy go-to before starting the day. In classic West Hollywood fashion, the setting also lends itself to the occasional celebrity sighting, adding to the overall energy of the space.

More than just a place to sleep, The Sun Rose West Hollywood offers a full lifestyle experience. The rooftop pool stands out as a highlight, with daybeds overlooking the city, champagne service, fresh fruit, and a full food menu available throughout the day. Unlike many hotel pools in Los Angeles, there is ample space, with plenty of lounge chairs for guests to actually settle in and spend the afternoon. The views alone make it worth it.

The property continues to deliver across every touchpoint, with a full gym and spa for wellness-focused guests, multiple elevated dining options, and even a bowling alley tucked into a moody, design-forward space that feels distinctly on-brand.

The defining feature of the hotel is its music venue, Live at The Sun Rose, a state-of-the-art space that brings the culture of the property to life. Formerly home to the iconic House of Blues Sunset Strip, the Sunset Boulevard location carries its legacy forward intentionally with nods to the history ingrained in the hotel’s storytelling. In fact, the city of West Hollywood mandated that the property include a live music venue in order to operate, a clear reflection of how embedded music and culture are in the area.

That intention is brought to life through programming led by Grammy-winning creative director Adam Blackstone, who curates surprise performances and immersive experiences throughout the hotel, from rooftop sets to unexpected showcases within the bowling alley space. The venue has already welcomed an impressive roster of talent, including John Legend, Stevie Wonder, Justin Timberlake, and Chad Smith. The space continues to evolve with both hotel-led programming and private event buyouts, including activations tied to the Netflix Is a Joke Festival during our stay.

The Sun Rose West Hollywood is one of those rare stays that’s hard to pull yourself away from. Everything feels considered without trying too hard, from the rooms to the energy across the property. I left wishing I had booked another night, and already know I’ll be back.
