The Potential for a Sci-Fi Dream Team

Continuing the science fiction sage, Lupita Nyong’o tackles on a new project hopefully solidifying her place in the cinematic genre.

News hit, and whispers are spreading that the Oscar winning actress is in talks to sign on with science fiction thriller Intelligent Life. The story is based on a different project called The Ambassador, which tells the tale of a UN department that provides the first contact with extraterrestrials. The main character of the story falls in love with a woman, played by Nyong’o only to find out later that she is in fact an alien. The story was written by duo Colin Trevorrow and Derek Connolly both of whom come from the mass success of Jurassic World. But they aren’t the only powerhouses of the project.

Helmed by director Ava DuVernay, known for her powerful work with Selma, will be setting up her vision in Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment banner and studio. Other Jurassic World alums like Frank Marshall are also set to produce the film. Although much of this project is still under a mysterious shroud, will no true confirmations, especially in regards to DuVernay who is also in talks to direct another science fiction project. The male lead of the movie has not been confirmed nor even hinted at, but the female lead is not out of work if this project doesn’t work out. Nyong’o will also be in the live adaptation of The Jungle Book, as Raksha the wolf, as well as the mother of a chess prodigy in The Queen of Katwe.

Even though nothing is confirmed, the potential of the project is already creating excited buzz. Especially with the previous blockbuster successes of each key player in the project, it only increases the creative success of Intelligent Life. A team of Trevorrow’s skills and newfound knack for receiving immense funding, along with DeVernay’s first steps into sci-fi and Nyong’o’s acting prowess is already phenomenal. Hopefully a true confirmation will be released soon to provide audiences the chance at seeing a female dream team up on the silver screen.
