The 16th Annual New York Indian Film Festival Announces Lineup

You do not want to miss this!

The New York Indian Film Festival (NYIFF) has just announced their Opening Night Gala film: Bardroy Baretto’s Nachom-ia Kumpasar (Let’s Dance to the Rhythm).  This film is a tribute to Goan music and her musicians.  The story focuses on Goan music through the 1960s and 70s and revolves around a love story that is fated to end in tragedy.

The NYIFF is recognized as the oldest, most glamorous Indian film festival in the United States.  This festival showcases some of the greatest works made by Indian entertainers.  This year, the NYIFF will be celebrating its 16th year running.  The festival will run from May 7 to 14 at a variety of venues including the Skirball Center for Performing Arts.

To add to the fun, filmmaker Hansal Mehta will close the festival with his latest work, Aligarh.  This film provides a look into the real life event of Dr. Shrinivas Ramchandra Siras, who was suspended from his job solely because of his sexual orientation.
