Stevie Wonder to be Honored by the ASCAP

Every year, the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers honor a legendary musician who best exemplifies the art of songwriting and creativity.

This year, the “Key of Life” award will be given to “Superstition” singer, Stevie Wonder on April 13-15 at the “I Create Music” EXPO in Los Angeles.

At the “I Create Music” EXPO, the ASCAP will be honoring Wonder for his “incomparable, peerless contributions to the world through his music”.

“Stevie has deservedly been given every award imaginable,” says ASCAP President Paul Williams, “Yet he continues to innovate and elevate the art of songwriting to the point where no honor can truly capture what he means to his creative kin at ASCAP, and to songwriters and music lovers worldwide.”

Stevie Wonder is known for being a 25-time Grammy winner and current member of the ASCAP for almost five decades. He is also the recipient of more than 600 Billboard Hot 100 hits during his time with the organization.

With his hits, “My Cherie Amour,” “Signed, Sealed, Delivered I’m Yours”, and “You Are the Sunshine of My Life”, Stevie Wonder will also appear as the keynote speaker of the “I Create Music” session. He has also received the ASCAP’s highest individual prize, the Founder’s Award, in 1984 along with the Centennial Award.

During the ASCAP “I Create Music” EXPO, various panelists will join Wonder, including Aloe Blacc, Desmond Child, and Matt Jenkins. As the largest EXPO for songwriters and composers alike, the conference is one of the most well attended events for participants to learn from creative and business oriented panels, workshops, and performances.
