Michelle and Barack Obama have been claimed one of America’s most powerful couple. We have witnessed the duo flourish in their marriage while also running the country and advocating for healthy families and education opportunities for girls around the globe. Though have you ever wondered how the hippest presidential couple even started?

Your questions will be answered in Richard Tanne and John Legend’s new movie Southside With You. The film is inspired by Barack and Michelle Obama’s first date all the way back in the summer of 1989. Young law firm associate Barack Obama (Parker Sawyers) takes the young Michelle Robinson (Tika Sumpter) on a daylong date in efforts to woo her. The date takes them all over from the Art Institute of Chicago to a screening of Spike Lee’s Do the Right Thing to the site of their first kiss outside of an ice cream parlor.

You can catch Southside With You on August 26 in a theater near you!

In the meantime check out the film’s official trailer!
