Secret Summer Hosts Their Seafood Festival “Aquarius”

Secret Summer is back and turned it out once again

On Saturday, January 26th, Secret Summer hosted its second “Aquarius” seafood festival.  Aquarius is special because it is the nation’s only sustainable seafood festival where it prides itself in farm to table food and cocktails.  The event took place at The Foundry in Long Island City.   Throughout this rustic and chic venue were an assortment of cocktails and seafood treats.  Some of the vendors showcasing their delicious food were MF EVENTS, which had a raw bar filled with oysters served three ways.  It was the first food vendor we were able to try and definitely set the tone of the night with its delicious oysters.  Our favorite style that they served was the ceviche.  However, you really can’t go wrong with a freshly shucked, raw oyster.  Midtown Greek hotspot Kellari Taverna served us some of the best salmon croquettes paired with a fresh and tangy aioli. CA’PISCI, located in Williamsburg served innovative and tasty seafood all on skewers. My/Mo Mochi Ice Cream was our spot to offer a cleanser to our palette with their assorted mochi flavors.  Our personal favorite was the mango mochi which bursted with fresh mango flavors.

What was cool about this event was that although a lot of food vendors were outside, fire pits were available to cozy up to while you enjoyed some of your tasty bites.  The cold won’t stop New Yorkers from enjoying some of the finer foods in life.

For the drinks available, Coney Island Brewery provided craft beer and hard sodas. One of the more interesting drinks we had was The Finnish Long Drink which was essentially gin paired with grapefruit juice.  We kept coming back for it because the drink went down smooth and had a very fruit forward taste without a lot of the kick that gin would give you.

Aquarius was such a huge success.  There is truly no other food and drink festival quite like it.  The energy of the night was invigorating.  The performances took the cake, one of them being a sultry burlesque dancer captivating the audience with her sultry dance moves.  Secret Summer events are events that you need to attend because they are like no other event.

Secret Summer, the country’s only farm-to-bar cocktail festival, will return to The Foundry on August 4th.  For more information, please visit: http://secretsummernyc.com
