This past weekend, The FADER returned to Miami’s Art Basel for Boom Basel at Maps Backlot in Wynwood Arts District of Miami.
Boom Basel, in partnership with Toyota, is a celebration of music, art and culture, and has been showing at Art Basel Miami for the past three years. The two-day showcase featured exciting interactive art experiences, as well as live performances from music artists such as MadeinTYO, CRL CRRLL, and SUPERDUPERKYLE, to name a few.
This annual FADER event brings together some of the most innovative minds, artists, and brands — uniting music and artistic creation, plus presenting some of the best in emerging and established talent. During the day, Boom Basel showcased a stunning mural created in real-time, as well as life-sized games featuring custom artwork from No King’s Collective. The showcase also included: canvas works from Fati Jafri, nodding to legendary female artists Frida Khalo and Barbara Kruger, customized airbrush shirts created by various artists on-site, and creative projection mapping technology.
In the evening, Boom Basel featured some lively headlining performances, from California-based rapper SUPERDUPERKYLE and Atlanta’s MadeinTYO, to sets from acclaimed DJ Oreo, Micah “Noodles” Mahinay, DJ Sober, and CRL CRRLL.
Overall, The FADER’s Boom Basel showcase definitely left its mark on Art Basel Miami this year, with the perfect mix of sounds, art, and memorable experiences.
