Inspired by the ‘Bond girls’ designer Dani Lui incorporated feminine silhouettes with a contemporary nature for his Fall/Winter 2018 collection.
Dan Lui introduced a palette of bubblegum pink and feminine neutral tones into his Fall/Winter 2018 collection. The collection was a take on classic silhouettes through combining traditional pieces with contemporary influences. Lui’s concept was the 1977 Bond film, The Spy who loved me. This theme was re-visited through the use of tinted sunglasses and ‘Bond girl’ accessories.
The first model careened down the runway in a long pink jacket, this look created a sense of anonymity which encompassed the ‘Bond girl’ aesthetic, followed by a range of corresponding pieces such as dresses adorned with embroideries and lace overlays. This collection was not particularly innovative or progressive, however, it maintained a balance between understated and rebellious. The fluidity of the collection allowed the audience to view the ‘Bond girl’ with a contemporary sharpness.
