The SaltFacial Just Upped The Facial Game

This weekend marks the start of daylight savings and we can’t wait to start saying hello to spring.

And not that a little après ski ever hurt anyone, but the harsh elements of winter can do a number on our skin. Read: gusty winds and bitterly cold temperatures.

It’s no surprise that by March, our skin needs some serious love and attention. Ironically the latest trend in skincare involves something that also causes bloating, high blood pressure, and can even lead to heart disease. And that is, salt.

But not just any salt. Natural Himalayan Salt from yeah, you guessed it: the Himalayas. Fortuntely for us, salt has major skin benefits and is a natural exfoliant.

The upscale SKINNEY Medspa in New York City is the first in Manhattan to offer this beauty trend and of course, The Knockturnal got an exclusive peak.

The SaltFacial is a 3-step process. After the skin is cleansed, it’s exfoliated with the Natural Himalayan Salt in a procedure that sort of feels like the salt is being sucked off your skin, rather than being put onto your skin. Next, an ultrasound wand was used to deepen the salt’s effects. Finally, we were put under a medical grade LED light, known for its anti-aging benefits. The whole process took about an hour and we left the spa with softer and brighter looking skin.

According to Lindsay Malachowski, Director of Operations at SKINNEY Medspa, the SaltFacial Skin Renewal Therapy is particularly well suited for health conscious, active lifestyle patients who are looking for more natural ways to treat their skin.

The best part? The SaltFacial can be used on any skin type. That’s right, no matter your age, race, or skin type – the SaltFacial can handle anything.
