Peter Bisuito’s award-winning psychological drama I Remember is set to make its highly anticipated streaming debut this Valentine’s Day on Amazon Prime Video, Google TV and Apple TV.
The film delves into love, loss, and the resilience of the human spirit, offering an emotional and gripping story that has captivated audiences worldwide. With a compelling narrative and a powerful performance at its core, *I Remember* is poised to leave a lasting impact. In this interview, Bisuito shares his inspiration behind the film, his journey into directing, and what’s next in his creative career.
The Knockturnal: What inspired you to make this film?
Bisuito: Several things. First of all I’m a HUGE movie buff. I love going to the movies with a large bucket of popcorn and a cherry soda, sitting in the far back corner of the theater, (mostly by myself) and getting lost in the magic of the big screen. When you enter the theater there is no concept of time. It’s s temporary escape from the sometimes tumultuous realities of my life. But film making is something I’ve never tried before. However, in addition to my entertainment, I’ve been an award-winning professional video producer for over 30 years. I’ve shot and edited weddings, commercials, promo videos, corporate videos, music videos…you name it. So in essence I’ve been “film making” most of my life but not in the sense of an actual movie. It was always on my bucket list.
The Knockturnal: Why was the time now to step into the director’s chair?
Bisuito: I thought of the plot to “I Remember” in October 2015. It was an amazing story. It was heartfelt, endearing, sad and I knew it would resonate with people. What I liked most was that the story had never been told. This wasn’t just some old tired plot regurgitated again in the LGBTQ community. However it was a psychological drama and since my entire life was consumed with comedy, the idea was placed on the back burner. I thought about it from time-to-time but never went forward. In November 2022 I hit a slump in my life. I was in a very bad space due to some failures I experienced. But I’ve always said that failure is just a test. It’s a test to see if you’re strong enough to go forward. So I decided to shake things up a bit. Do something completely different. I resurrected the idea of “I Remember” and put the project in motion.
The Knockturnal: What do you think will surprise the audience the most about the film?
Bisuito: The ending of the film is pretty powerful. It’s an unexpected plot twist that is promoting conversation and resonating with people. I have fans of the movie messaging me even a year later and telling me that they continue to think about my film. The Mayor of Fort Lauderdale even presented me with a Letter of Proclamation declaring July 20th 2023 as “Peter Bisuito Day” for my film which brings awareness to a very serious issue that plagues this country.
The Knockturnal: Are you ready to do your next project after this one and why from this film process makes you want to continue your art?
Bisuito: Oh boy, I have about 3 projects I’m ready to produce. One of them is currently in motion. I developed my own talk show called “Naked Guy Crocheting” where I interview celebrity guests while crocheting naked. (I’m never fully naked. Always covered. It’s just a silly gimmick) We performed this show a few years ago and it was so successful that I’ve decided to bring it back to life only this time with a bigger and global vision. The pilot episode will be filmed professionally in front of a LIVE studio audience on Sunday, March 23rd in Fort Lauderdale.
Bisuito: My other project is a brilliant reality elimination show idea I have. Sort of like a “Dancing with the Stars” format. It’s definitely a great idea that people all over the world would enjoy.
And lastly, I have yet another fantastic idea for a full-feature film. Once again, it’s a brilliant plot never been done before. But everything is about MONEY! I can’t go forward without the proper budget so it’s just a matter of time before I get the funding and then all of my project will come to fruition!
