On the Scene: Turtles All the Way Down Screening

The Knockturnal attended an exclusive screening of Turtles All the Way Down hosted by MAX & We all Grow at the Rooftop Cinema Club.

Turtles All the Way Down is based on the best selling novel by John Green, starring Isabela Merced as Aza Holmes, Cree Cicchino as Daisy Ramirez, and Judy Reyes as Gina. We All Grow hosted a pre-screening panel discussion with Cree Cicchino and Judy Reyes, moderated by the founder of We All Grow, Ana Flores. We All Grow is an online platform designed to celebrate and elevate Latinx voices. During the panel, Cree Cicchino and Judy Reyes answered insightful questions from the Amigas Circle Conversation cards created by We All Grow.

After the movie, three lucky guests were given conversation cards of their own. The movie depicts Aza’s experience with obsessive-compulsive disorder and how it affects her experiences with high school, relationships, and a mystery involving a missing billionaire. Aza’s best friend, Daisy, is always by her side as they go on a journey searching for the billionaire in hopes of receiving a financial reward.

The audience embarked on an emotional journey as the story played out. John Green offers a poignant portrayal of living with a mental illness as a teenager transitioning from high school into adulthood. The venue provided the audience with popcorn and candy to make the night on the rooftop even more special! Everyone will enjoy Turtles All the Way Down on May 2nd, on Max!
