On The Scene: ‘Star Trek: Strange New Worlds’ New York City Premiere [Video]

Excitement was definitely in the air for the Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, New York City Premiere! The show has been notoriously popular since the 60s with its greeting salute and Spock eyebrows. As soon as the actors began arriving on the red carpet, even the press photographers started happily cheering them on.

Star Trek is a childhood favorite for many while growing up, and for most of the actors in the revamped series, such as the leads, Rebecca Romijn, Ethan Peck, and Anson Mount passionately expressed in our interviews, its a “dream come true,” to say the least! What’s even more exciting is the fact that the new episodes will not only bring its original demographic that has always loved the show, but also a younger audience that will soon begin to feel the same way.

Trekkies came through cosplaying and having fun people watching all the different costumes and makeup details, and as soon as the lights turned off and characters started making their entrances on screen, the audience cheered loudly in support! The first two episodes that premiered kicked off the revamped series with a bang – a dramatic storyline, honest transparency from the characters that we meet, and of course, action-packed problem solving!

I loved the fact that there was so much girl power going on as well, with actresses Rebecca Romijn, Jess Bush, Christina Chong, and Celia Rose Gooding’s characters all taking lead on obstacles that arise, and being shown in powerful leadership positions, where Captain Christopher Pike salutes their work ethic and bright ideas. Finding women at the forefront as positive role models as characters is something that actress Rebecca Romijn consciously looks for when choosing her acting roles, because she wants to positively influence her daughter, she mentioned during our interview. Star Trek: Strange New Worlds comes back with inspiring female super-heroes, exciting cliff hangers, and space adventures, that will have you binge-watching on Paramount+!
