On The Scene: HBO’s ‘Westworld’ Season 3 Premiere [Video]

It’s been over 20 months since Westworld Season 2 wrapped but finally, HBO’s sci-fi western series is returning with Season 3. While a lot of questions were answered, there’s still a lot that left us wondering. HBO did an official recap which does a pretty good job at detailing what fans should know ahead of the new season.

So far we’ve had season one take place in a western theme park with high-tech realistic robots and then things got crazy during season 2. Now with season 3 approaching what we do know is that it will take place in the “real world.” We are also aware that the character Dolores made it out of the theme park and into the real world and that Tessa Thompson’s character’s (Charlotte) body survived.

“I can’t wait to find out if we get to do another season and a season after that all the new identities that this character can bring,” is what Tessa Thompson said after we caught up with her recently and asked how she felt about her new identity. Now I don’t know about you but if we really wanted to be skeptical, we can take this information and assume she knows something we don’t. Perhaps hinting a little bit at more.

Then again at the premiere some of the other Westworld stars were a little bit more tight-lipped about divulging information. Were they contractually obligated not to spill? Maybe. However, we found out some of the cast doesn’t even know what’s going on beyond the scenes they happen to be in. “It’s so locked down it’s like the CIA. I don’t know what’s going on,” said Tommy Flanagan while talking to us about his involvement in Season 3.

Even Leonardo Nam who plays Felix on the show assured us that we’re not the only ones confused along the way and that sometimes the showrunners do keep parts of scripts away from them on purpose. Meanwhile, something that isn’t so secret about season 3 is Aaron Paul and Lena Waithe’s participation. Aaron is practically all over the trailer and it’s pretty clear he’s gonna have a big role this season.

Other familiar faces we have to be on the lookout for include musician turned actor Scott Mescudi better known as Kid Cudi and NFL running back Marshawn Lynch.

Westworld Season 3 Premieres on HBO March 15th but in the meantime check out our interviews!
