This past weekend Ford flew us out to experience the F-150 Truck Tour at North Carolina Central University’s Homecoming Weekend in Durham, NC.
This was the last stop on their six-stop Truck Tour. This was my first time in North Carolina, and it was very exciting getting to visit a new place while attending this event. Arriving Friday morning at the Washington Duke Inn and Golf Club on Duke’s campus, I was able to go look around Duke’s campus. Some of the places I saw were the Duke Chapel and Cameron Indoor Stadium.
Saturday was the Ford Truck Tour and our day began with brunch in the morning where we got to learn more about the new Ford Truck models as well as the “Drive 4 Ur Community” initiative. This initiative is able to help raise $20 for every test drive to support the Tom Joyner Foundation. Along the Truck Tour, Ford honored one student from each HBCU who is making a difference and going further on their campus through community service. A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie teamed up with Ford to honor Jordan Thomas, a sophomore studying Political Science at North Carolina Central University.
Before A Boogie performed we got a chance to ask him a couple of questions about his upcoming albums and what goals he has for his Jordan year. He told us that pre-orders for Hoodie SZN start going out around his birthday, which is December 6th and it’ll probably drop around Christmas time. His fans can expect to get the real A Boogie. He doesn’t think his fans have heard the real A Boogie in over a year. He also said that this past year his fans got too many features and throwaways and that they’ll be happy to hear this new project. A Boogie turns 23 years old next month and he’s looking forward to his Jordan year. He said it’s time to put in more work and get to the money. After buying his mom a home recently, there’s still a lot more he wants to do for his family. A Boogie says in 2019 his fans can expect Artist 2.0 around Valentine’s Day and it’s also his daughter’s birthday on Valentine’s Day so having the project release on that day is very important to him.
Here I am with A Boogie wit da Hoodie at brunch!
After, we headed to the Ford Stage which was on NCCU’s campus where Lil’ Mo and A Boogie performed to hype up the crowd for their homecoming game. There were a lot of NCCU alumni having cookouts and tailgating for the big game. A Boogie performed over 20 songs from his catalog as well as a few new songs from his upcoming albums. The crowd enjoyed his performance and he closed out his set with his most popular song “Drowning.”
At the tailgate, the Ford F-150 Tour gave attendees the opportunity to support HBCU schools by test-driving the latest lineup of F-150 pickups, including XLT and Lariat. This tour was a further extension of Ford’s longtime commitment to HBCU’s and to give back to their communities.
