On The Scene: Christian Cowan x The Powerpuff Girls Fashion Show [Video]

Pastel blue feathers, metallic sequins, and bright pink tulle were all in attendance for Christian Cowan’s annual fashion show in collaboration with The Powerpuff girls on March 8th. Located in the heart of Hollywood at the ever-so sleek, NeueHouse, the stars came out for a night in celebration of the new line to kick off International Women’s Day.

Avant-Garde meets modern for the 2020 Spring ready-to-wear collection. Christian Cowan, a luxury womenswear designer, knows what it means to be extra and does it well. There’s no doubt Cowan will be setting trends with the puffed sleeves and vibrant colors. LA cool-girls will stunt the metallic cropped blazers perfectly paired with his wide-legged pants to the office come Monday morning. Soooo Kacey Musgraves, I thought to myself as a model in the matching set strutted down the runway. The entire venue beamed with eccentric ’70s vibes to fit the flare with no shortage of neon lights and disco balls.

The inclusive brand brought out those who aren’t afraid to stand out in a crowd. Lisa Rinna, Meghan Trainor, and Gigi Gorgeous to name a few, walked the red carpet in support of Cowan’s flamboyant collection. Lisa Rinna pulled up in a stunning pair of knee-high stiletto boots, a tailored to-a-t double-breasted blazer mini dress and of course her best accessory, Harry Hamlin. The couple sat front row during the event as she danced in her seat to Raingurl x Yaeji bumping in the background. For those of you who have never experienced the Housewives star in person, let’s just say she’ll make you drop your jaw. The reality star turned business mogul is 56 years old and has 20-year-olds wondering what retinol cream is in her nighttime skincare routine. (Please drop the details, girl. I’ll have whatever she’s having!)

Of course, Cowan saved the best for last as Meghan Trainor, Kelle Moran and Nikita Dragun entered the catwalk as Bubbles, Blossom and Buttercup in homage to Cartoon Network’s beloved early 2000s hit show. For that era, The Powerpuff girls changed the way millennials looked at females in cartoons on screen. The triplets were the ultimate kicka** group of girls who weren’t afraid to fight the bad guys, appropriately in theme for International Women’s Day.

Meghan Trainor talked about how it’s the man in her life that lifts her up to feel confident. She says her husband, Daryl Sabara encourages her to do affirmations in the mirror.

“He’ll make me stop in the mirror and look at myself and he’ll be like go ahead say it. And i’m like ‘My name’s Meghan Trainor and I deserve to be loved because I’m awesome and I’m beautiful’ He’s so good to me and it always makes us laugh and feel better.”
