Exclusive: Billy Eichner, Luke Macfarlane, TS Madison, Miss Lawrence & More Talk ‘Bros’ at NY Premiere [Video]

The movie Bros starring Billy Eichner and Luke Macfarlane was released on September 30th.

The film focuses on Bobby and Aaron, played by Eichner and Mcfarlane, who ultimately fall in love with each other. Bobby is described as a podcast host who doesn’t take dating too seriously. He goes on multiple meaningless dates with various people and is content with remaining single. That facade soon fades when he meets Aaron, who shares a similar mindset when it comes to love. Bros is a romantic comedy that shows romance within the LGBTQIA+ community outside the scope of tragedy and sadness. The comedic aspects of the film help enhance each character’s development and balance the overall storyline.

Eichner, who co-wrote, executive produced, and starred in Bros, described the movie as one that isn’t very common when depicting romance within the community. He states, ” I just wanted to make a really funny movie. Comedy is hard. We don’t get many great mainstream Hollywood movies where the LGBTQ characters are allowed to be at the center of the story and be funny and joyful and sexy and romantic…” He wanted to ensure the film would be enjoyable for everyone regardless of their sexual orientation.

The Knockturnal spoke with Eichner, Macfarlane, & more at the premiere in New York, where each discussed the film’s representation of the LGBTQIA+ community. They also detailed there experiences creating the film and what they hope viewers take away from it.
