The beloved rum brand brought the energy of Old San Juan to Brooklyn, NYC, with La Placita de BACARDÍ, a Williamsburg hotspot, Fandi Mata.
The event also included an immersive marketplace, “Rooted in Rhythm, the limited-edition capsule collection, in partnership with Brooklyn-based streetwear brand TIER. The three-piece collection featured a hat, t-shirt, and crew neck as a tribute to the shared Latin Caribbean heritage. The Founder and Creative Director of TIER, Nigeria Ealey, and Reyna Noriega set the collaboration. Each piece pays homage to the island, along with BACARDI’s iconic font. “We wanted this collaboration to be meaningful and authentic,” Nigeria Ealey, Founder and Creative Director of TIER, shared. Noriega states, “As a Cuban and Bahamian artist, it means so much to me to partner with a brand with such a rich history in the Caribbean like BACARDÍ.”
Other highlights of the night included a rocking DJ set by DJ Bembona, which included transitioning sounds of salsa, amapiano, afro-beats, and hip-hop, infusing diversity and diasporic culture. The menu also included deliciously crafted drinks from the brand. Some notable attendees included Puerto Rican stars Joan Smalls and LaLa Anthony, who checked out the collection as well as indulged in the cocktails.
The limited edition BACARDÍ x TIER collection will be available in the coming weeks. Fans can sign up on the TIER website for early access. For more information, follow @bacardi and @tier_NYC on Instagram for collection updates.
