NYFW ‘China Day’ showcases SS20 collections for LILY and XU ZHI

China Day - Lily, Spring 2020, New York Fashion Week, September 8 2019

This past Sunday NYFW held “China Day” as a tribute to the bustling Chinese fashion industry and to showcase Chinese brands that are making waves. LILY and XU ZHI had their shows back to back at Spring Studios, and showed off their Spring/Summer 2020 collections that both held unique and cohesive themes.

LILY brought workwear chic to the runway at the presentation of their collection. The show opened with an airport announcement that rung in the overall theme of the working woman on the go. Oversized briefcases were a staple on the runway, and block pastel colors and denim were also a major motif during the show, bringing a lighthearted vibe to a typically austere sector  sector of fashion.

The XU ZHI line from award winning designer Xuzhi Chen deep dived into the aesthetics of Greek mythology, with pale tones, fringe, and garden influences ruling over the collection. In a “free, pure, and impassioned” collection, the pieces majorly represented Spring/Summer fashion, with fringed accessories and and cropped materials that looked ready to wear beachside during the warmer months

In attendance during the popular China Day showcase was supermodel Josephine Skiver, who sat front row at both shows last Sunday.
