On August 4th, Nordstrom hosted a VIP cocktail party in celebration of Black Business Month.
The retail company over the last year has notably created more opportunities for BIPOC fashion designers and provided them with a platform to showcase their work. In 2021, Nordstrom officially signed the fifteen percent pledge in order to grow black businesses over the next ten years. The pledge essentially challenged Nordstrom to commit 15% of its shelf to Black-owned businesses. Since the signing, the company has made progress with this goal, and the cocktail party highlighted just that.
The hosts of the evening were influencer Tiffany Battle and non-profit leader and equity champion Latoya Williams- Belfast. The room was filled with BIPOC designers, innovative thinkers, and all things fashion. Black designers who were featured on the retailer’s site were also in attendance for the evening. Guests had access to hors d’oeuvres and drinks throughout the evening. Vibrant music and great conversations also filled the room. To put it simply, guests were networking and fostering great connections over the course of the evening. The moment was captured with a toast to Nordstrom’s continued commitment in building more equity within the fashion and retail industry. Check out our recap!
