Macy’s Hosts Nineteenth Amendment Fashion Week Preview

“Amendments are about change, and they are bringing change to the fashion industry, and independent designers by giving them an incredible platform for exposure, we only dare to dream of.”-Anjé

On February 12th in Macys on 34th street Nineteenth Amendment made fashion week history in a historical fashion building — with the first public, shop-able fashion week show ever!

Amanda Curtis and Gemma Sole put their minds together two years ago and began working with creative people in the fashion world who were pairing fashion and technology, but needed some help on the business side of things. This action resulted in the Nineteenth Amendment being rooted in the ideology that fashion should be manufactured on our own soil. It’s a new way to show and create clothes in a way that is affordable for customers, and still profitable for designers.

The presentation was very accessible. The stage and live models were smack dab in the middle of the floor, No ropes, or exclusivity. Racks of samples were at your fingertips to try on and order. There were hors d’oeuvres, wine, and Pomegranate mojitos circulating. Just like a good old fashioned high end sip and shop with an amazing DJ sets. Kréyol the Haitian inspired line caught most people’s eyes with their bright universal colors and textures. Jovan O’Conner’s line was making people smile with her colorful prints, and pleats. Helen Castillo Design had everyone dying to get in her velvet gown. And Edgy Anjé sold out her asymmetrical shirt dresses within a week! Shoppers were placing orders on the spot and could not wait to wear their clothes.

Presale prices last 19 days, then return to regular pricing. So come up to Macy’s before the sale ends! All orders will be shipped directly to the customer’s doorstep in four weeks. For clothes or information visit Ninteenthamendment.com.
