Shortly after the designer’s debut AW17 collection in February, Nina Tiari showcased her first Spring Summer collection at New York Fashion Week this Sunday.
Tiari, a San Francisco native, holds degrees for fashion design from Parsons, design from the New School, and art history from New York University. Her style influences come from working with clients such as Madonna and Vogue under stylists Natasha Royt and B Akerlund.
Following her debut AW collection inspired by the determination of women, this collection displays more of a feminine spirit. The inspiration counteracts the current turmoil in society, drawing from Slim Aaron and Studio 54 – a glamorous downtown city girl meets Palm Springs. The collection is representative of the city woman, fearless and confident, by combining detailed tailoring with drama of downtown New York fashion. Silhouettes combined different textures such as fringe and embroidery for extra drama and dimension in a explosive palette of bright primary colors layered on top of neutrals.
