MAXI MERAKI, HELSLOOT, AMAL NEMER, ADAM NAZAR – OUR FUTURE [ULTRA RECORDS]
Miami’s rising star Amal Nemer joins forces with Maxi Meraki, Helsloot, and Adam Nazar on “Our Future,” a fiery afro house collaboration released via Ultra Records just days ahead of Miami Music Week. What began as a deeper, pop-leaning house tune evolved into a dancefloor powerhouse when all four artists contributed their signature elements, marrying infectious afro percussion with melodic guitars, brass-like basslines, and sunny day-party atmospheres. “The track tells the story of somebody who didn’t want to fall in love yet couldn’t resist,” explains Venezuelan-born, Miami-based Nemer, who not only delivers the track’s topline vocals but also participated in the production from its early stages, with her voice serving multiple roles throughout—from lead vocals to clever textures and percussion accents. Though the sound departs from her usual tech house offerings, Nemer embraces the versatility, noting, “Once in a while I wanna do something different. Step outside those boxes.” This release adds to her impressive catalog of over 200 records in just four years, with previous releases on renowned labels including Moon Harbour, Glasgow Underground, Nervous Records, and Farris Wheel.
EDX – COBALT [PINKSTAR RECORDS]
Legendary GRAMMY-nominated producer EDX kicks off 2025 with “Cobalt,” a meticulously crafted club weapon dropping on PinkStar Records, a sub-label of his own Sirup Music imprint. The track showcases the Swiss house master’s signature sound—opening with ethereal white noise effects layered with progressive synths and plucks before crisp snares and hypnotic female vocalizations build tension toward a pulsating deep house bassline drop. “Every year presents a new challenge to prepare for Miami Music Week, all while adding a fresh twist to my sound,” notes EDX. “‘Cobalt’ revives the old school vibes while staying current, showcasing an innovative sound for this year’s dance floors.” The release coincides with a packed Miami Music Week schedule for the veteran, including the 10th edition of his No Xcuses showcase and appearances alongside Marshmello and Alok at marquee venues. With his past GRAMMY nomination and Sirup Music’s upcoming anniversary celebrations, “Cobalt” marks the beginning of what promises to be a landmark year for the industry titan.
ALLEYCVT – STRANGERS [SUPERSONIC]
Los Angeles-based talent ALLEYCVT continues her rapid ascent in the heavy dubstep scene with “STRANGERS,” a track that masterfully blends raw, emotive pop vocals with relentless bass drops. Released as she builds anticipation for her debut EP “FEEL IT,” the single explores the magnetic pull of connection—encountering the unfamiliar, forging profound bonds, and ultimately letting go while carrying the impact forward. “The song is up for interpretation, and that’s what I love about songwriting,” explains ALLEYCVT. “It could be about not recognizing yourself anymore for whatever reason… It also could be about another person that you once knew, that now feels like a stranger.” Her signature vocals glide over intense basslines, creating a soundscape that’s simultaneously vulnerable and dancefloor-ready. Following a largely sold-out national headline tour last year and with upcoming performances at Beyond Wonderland, Ultra Music Festival, and Red Rocks alongside Mersiv, ALLEYCVT further cements her place as a defining voice in the next wave of bass music, drawing inspiration from artists like Flux Pavilion, GRiZ, and Zeds Dead while forging a distinctly personal sonic identity.
ANII – HELLO [TRUESOUL]
Polish-born, Ibiza-based producer ANII makes her debut on Truesoul with “Hello,” a richly complex emotional journey that follows her previous appearance on Adam Beyer’s main Drumcode imprint. The track showcases her masterful production skills, weaving disparate elements into an organic whole—combining lively beats and a powerful dark undercurrent with unexpected melodic soul. Opening with mysterious fuzzy sitar-like sounds and high whooping radio signal effects, the arrangement soon introduces fast, low-frequency drums and fizzing hi-hats while ominous vocal duet riffs on the title. As the track evolves, emotional synth notes warm the soundscape, complemented by a high, keening vocal ululation that creates a distinctive Eastern influence. Though now firmly planted in the techno realm, ANII’s early explorations in drum and bass, electro, and house continue to flavor her current work, showcasing her “vocation for the darker side” through releases on respected labels like Afterlife, Kompakt, and her own TOO GOOD TO DIE imprint.
TOM MISCH – OLD MAN [BEYOND THE GROOVE]
British multi-instrumentalist Tom Misch signals a profound shift in his artistic direction with “Old Man,” a deeply personal ballad that trades his signature electronic production for stripped-back, analog warmth. Written alongside Matt Maltese in his parents’ shed before recording in Nashville with producer Ian Fitchuck, the track explores themes of aging, family bonds, and the peculiar nature of time passing. “Recently I’ve really wanted to create songs that work well stripped back in a classic sense,” Misch explains, calling it “one of my favorite songs I’ve ever made.” The accompanying video, directed by Saddiq Abubakar, captures poignant snapshots of father-son relationships before culminating in an intimate performance where Misch plays to an audience of one—his father Peter. Following his Ivor Novello-nominated collaboration with drummer Yussef Dayes and last year’s exploratory “Six Songs” EP, “Old Man” represents a new chapter for Misch, who has battled creative anxiety while crafting this more guitar-centered approach. The result is both a personal reckoning and a universal statement that, as he notes, “will be just as relevant playing it in 40 years from now.”
