NEW: Denzel Washington Gave ABFF a Night To Remember!

On the last day of The 28th Annual American Black Film Festival (ABFF), the New World Center in Miami Beach was packed to celebrate the living legend, Denzel Washington!

The audience gave Washington a loud standing ovation as moderator, Chaz Ebert, welcomed him on stage.

Throughout his life, the multi-hyphenate star has been in over 60 films and is well known for playing some of the most iconic roles in film history such as Malcolm X, Frank Lucas (American Gangster), and Alonzo Harris (Training Day) to name a few.

His Iconic roles has earned him numerous awards including:  Two Academy Awards, a Tony Award, Two Golden Globes, as well as the Cecil B. DeMille Award and AFI Life Achievement Award. 

Denzel sat down with Moderator Chaz Ebert to have an insightful conversation about his previous work while also celebrating his many achievements on and off the screen. His significant cultural impact was done through hard work, dedication, and support from his wife, actor Pauletta Washington. The audience got to see an exclusive first look at his upcoming Netflix film, The Piano Lesson, which his kids also played a role in the making of the film.

“They all got it from their mom’s side, “ he stated. “As long as I’ve known her, she’s been a movie buff so she’s gotten those kids to watch movies.” In the middle of the interview, Denzel FaceTimed Pauletta and she was warmly greeted by the audience. 

The event ended off with many laughs and gems shared by Washington.  He has truly made it a night to remember.
