Netflix turned Santa Monica High School “Upside Down” Transforming it into a Hawkins High “Homecoming” for Season 3 World Premier of Stranger Things. The cast and crew came out to celebrate the world premiere of Netflix’s fan favorite,  and we were on the scene catch it all!

We caught up with Jake Busey, Brett Gelman, as well as some of Netflix’s biggest stars including Anthony Alabi, Kyle Dixon, Michael Stein, Ethan Herisse, Lewis Tan, and Keith L. Williams and many more.

In what can only be described as fully immersive experience Netflix turned Santa Monica High School “upside down” transforming it into a Hawkins High “Homecoming” for the day.  Netflix pulled out all the stops as a Hawkins High cheerleading squad delighted thousands of screaming fans, seated in bleachers, as the Hawkins High Marching band performed 80’s hits with seamless choreography.  Netflix even treated fans to sack lunches, bearing the Hawkins High mascot, as takeaway gifts.

There was even a huge LEGO® activations Mystery Mural Community Build where cast and fans attendees were invited to contribute pieces to a mural that celebrates season3 and premiered their Stranger Things: The Upside Down, a 2,287-piece set packed with details from the show.

The shows famous fans couldn’t resist coming out to celebrate the premiere.  Stars like  Jaden Smith, Ashley Tisdale, Marsai Martin, Chloe & Halle Bailey, Cody Simpson, Logan Browning, Blake Jenner, Jackie Cruz, Rumer Willis, Tallulah Willis, Jessica Marie Garcia, Sierra Capri, Diego Tinoco, Jason Genao, Marcel Ruiz, Ethan Herisse, Maxwell Jenkins, Jonathan Bennett, Alyson Stoner, and many more were all spotted showing their love for all things Stranger Things!

Amid the festivities, the complete cast, including Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo,  Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, Sadie Sink, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Joe Keery, Dacre Montgomery, Maya Hawke, Priah Ferguson, Cara Buono, Cary Elwes, Brett Gelman, Andrey Ivchenko, Joe Chrest, Francesca Reale, Jake Busey and Stranger Things 3 creators, executive producers and directors, The Duffer Brothers, walked a Stranger Things themed “Black Carpet”,  stopping frequently to pose for pictures with fans and sign autographs.

But the fun didn’t stop there!  Netflix spared no expense in creating the Stranger Things 3 Fun Fair which was the physical embodiment of Summer of 1985 in Hawkins, IN.  After the screening, the entire cast joined fans at the Santa Monica Pier where everyone delighted in carnival games, slimy dunking booths, plenty of dancing, custom snacks, and a Hawkins High Ferris Wheel.  There was even a Demogorgon Curiosity House, a spooky immersive experience, that can’t be missed!

For fans in Los Angeles, The Stranger Things 3 Fun Fair at the Santa Monica Pier is open to the public, free of charge, Saturday, June 29 through Sunday, June 30 from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.   But don’t despair east coast fans, the Fun Fair will make its way to Deno’s Wonder Wheel Amusement Park, located on Coney Island, July 5-7, starting with a fourth of July Stranger Things themed fireworks display.

Finally, we’re all wondering what we can expect from Season 3.  Although the showrunners have been tight lipped on what we can expect they did a few key tidbits slip out, “It’s the summer of 1985, school’s out, there’s a brand-new mall in town and the Hawkins crew are on the cusp of adulthood. Romance blossoms and complicates the group’s dynamic, and they’ll have to figure out how to grow up without growing apart. Meanwhile, danger looms. When the town’s threatened by enemies old and new, Eleven and her friends are reminded that evil never ends; it evolves. Now they’ll have to band together to survive and remember that friendship is always stronger than fear”.
