Netflix Helps Kick Off CultureCon With Icons and Legends Party

Netflix joined forces with The Creative Collective to kick off CultureCon weekend on Friday (October 4th).

The event which was named Netflix Presents: A Celebration of “Icons and Legends, highlighted titles including Starting 5, Simone Biles: Rising, Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson, Sprint, and Receivers, which took place at Boom at The Standard, High Line. The party which included guest appearances from, Ryan Destiny, Cleotrapa, Scarlip, Kamie Crawford, Gia Peppers, Bevy Smith, Obio Jones, Scot Louie, Love Island’s Kenny Rodriguez, and many more, also featured a surprise musical performance by Remy Ma.

Starting 5 a new 10-part Netflix sports series, provides an intense, behind-the-scenes look at the 2023-24 NBA season through the eyes of five of the league’s biggest players – Jimmy Butler (Miami Heat), Anthony Edwards (Minnesota Timberwolves), LeBron James (Los Angeles Lakers), Domantas Sabonis (Sacramento Kings) and Jayson Tatum (Boston Celtics). The series captures their battles on and off the court as they chase greatness, push through injuries, and balance the demands of family and legacy. The docuseries will premiere on Netflix on October 9th.

Simone Biles: Rising Part 2 will debut on Netflix on October 25th, and Sprint 2, which follows athletes from all over the world, delves deep into the psyches of those elite competitors who train to be the fastest person on the planet, taking an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the high stakes, and mental toughness of the sprinters who devote their entire lives to crossing the finish line in record time, where their professional futures are decided in just fractions of a second.

Episodes will feature Noah Lyles, Gabby Thomas, Fred Kerley, Kishane Thompson, Julien Alfred, Letsile Tebogo, Melissa Jefferson, Twanisha Terry, Marcell Jacobs, Kenny Bednarek, Shericka Jackson, Oblique Seville, and other elite athletes as they compete at the pinnacle of their sport at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, striving for gold with the world watching, will debut on November 13th. Jake vs. Mike Tyson will stream live on November 15th, from the 80,000-seat capacity AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, home of the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys.

Matchroom’s undisputed super lightweight world champion Katie Taylor (23-1, 6 KOs) will defend her undisputed title over 10, two-minute rounds against boxing trailblazer and unified featherweight world champion Amanda “The Real Deal” Serrano (46-2-1, 30 KOs) in the most anticipated rematch in women’s boxing history, while Tyson and Paul also battle it out in the ring.

The following day on Saturday, October 5th, Netflix continued their Culture Con presence with Netflix’s “Rhythm + Flow” panel featuring Rhythm + Flow: Season 2 executive producers, Jesse Collins and Dionne Harmon, where they were also joined by guest judge, Remy Ma. The engaging conversation which was moderated by New York Radio Icon, Angie Martinez, explored the creative process behind the series and its impact on aspiring artists. Rhythm & Flow Season 2 will debut on Netflix in November.
