Courteous to 20th Century Fox, The Knockturnal was able to see an advanced screening of “Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul” based on the book by Jeff Kinney on Saturday at the Regal Cinemas.
This is the fourth installment in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid film series and is a sequel to Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days.
This is the first film to feature a whole new cast including Alicia Silverstone (Clueless) and Tom Everett Scott as the mother and father of the Heffley family.
The film is set around a crazy long family road trip turned wrong as there are way too many hiccups for a person’s bad luck to really happen in real life. But bad luck seems to follow the Heffley family as they head to their Meemaw’s house for her 90th birthday. But they go off course thanks to Greg Heffley’s attempt to attend a video game convention.
In the end the family comes together despite their differences. But compared to the first three, this film is very much geared toward the modern tech savvy child and lack of communication between the parent and child. Which makes it much more relatable.
The film is to be released May 19th in theaters nationwide.
