Ku Klux Klan Wants to Rise Again

After 150 years of existence, Ku Klux Klan leaders said they feel United States politics are going their way.

The Ku Klux Klan is looking to restore itself to its former glory of invisible membership stretching across the nation.

Created after the Civil War, the Klan is well-known for attacking civil rights in the 1960s. Klan members were recognizable with their white hooded robes they wore to preserve anonymity while committing acts of hatred and violence towards blacks. After significant progress was made in the civil rights movement, the KKK seemed to fall apart with a decrease in membership and with members being jailed.

Although the KKK is no longer at its height of terror, it is still a present force striving to become what they once were. Ku Klux Klan leaders have said that the pull towards a nationalist mentality in U.S. politics is what makes them hopeful for their restoration. Limiting immigration, one of Donald Trump’s presidential campaign platforms, is an idea with which the Klan agrees.

Becoming a member of the KKK is simple. An online form is available to fill out for membership; requirements include being white and Christian. An online store has their white cotton robes for sale. Members still meet in the South to promote their organization and some members have expressed the desire to unify the Klan.

“We will work on a unified Klan and/or alliance this summer,” said Brent Waller, imperial wizard of the United Dixie White Knights in Mississippi.
