I was able to sit down with Kheris Rogers who is a teen influencer, fashion designer, actress and CEO of her apparel brand “Flexin’ In My Complexion” which she began after bullies made fun of her darker skin tone and she began the fashion campaign and blew up on Twitter with celebrities wearing her apparel.
She has also appeared on Disney Channel and The Steve Harvey Show.
Richard: So, miss, where did you grow up and what led you to your path in media?
Kheris Rogers: I grew up in LA. What led me? One, not always loving myself and not knowing how to or try to find that confidence in me and social media overall can have an impact on a lot of people’s lives in a good way and in a bad way. I feel like it was in a good way for me to help inspire other young, black girls that look like me.
Richard: So, what is “Flexin’ In My Complexion” and why did you start it?
Kheris Rogers: “Flexin’ In My Complexion” is my clothing line that I started because I was being bullied for my dark skin complexion. So, I wanted to start something that would inspire everyone to love themselves and be who they are.
Richard: So, what do you love most about your work?
Kheris Rogers: What I love most about my work is the love that we put behind it. I feel like it’s not just about me. It’s for everyone to know their worth and to know who they are and I feel like that’s the best part about the whole thing.
Richard: So, what makes you stand out from other media personalities?
Kheris Rogers: What makes me stand out from other media personalities is for one, my story. I don’t know any other influencers that started and just blew up based off of a clothing line more than just social media because of it because you can’t tell me one.
Richard: What do you hope to accomplish in the next 10 years?
Kheris Rogers: What I hope to accomplish in the next ten years is I want to have my own storefront and just to make sure that we all love ourselves. We can say we love ourselves all day everyday and then still not mean it and how you love yourself is your actions and what you bring to the table and once I feel like we all got that , I hope the next ten years will be some growth.
