Find Out How You Can Join City Year AmeriCorps

City Year is accepting applications until April 30, 2016.

If you’re 18-24 and want to accelerate your career, now you have a chance to acquire marketable professional skills by serving as a City Year AmeriCorps member for a year – before, during or after college.

City Year is an AmeriCorps program that helps elementary, middle and high school students stay in school and on track to graduate. This year, more than 3,000 AmeriCorps members are serving 196,000 students in 292 high-need schools in 27 cities all over the country (including Boston, Chicago, New York, Cleveland, Orlando, Los Angeles, Philadelphia and many, many more).

City Year says there is a great need for corps members. Every 31 seconds a student gives up on school in America, resulting in 760,000 drop outs per year.  Each drop out is three times more likely than college graduates to be unemployed and six times more likely to end up in prison.

Corps members serve for one year as full time tutors, mentors and role models in high-need urban public schools. AmeriCorps members receive more than 300 hours of training, a small stipend and other benefits.
