Jamie and Claire… Tha gaol agam ort! (According to a Google search that means “I love you.” And you know… the internet is never wrong.)
Outlander is back… and better than ever. New challenges, new faces, new love stories blossoming from familiar favorites. Yes, ish gets REALLY REAL in the Outlander world but we watch for the love stories. SWOON!
Here at The Knockturnal, we put on our sharpest kilts and grabbed a glass of Sassenach to chat with several of the stars of Outlander… including newbies Izzy Meikle-Small, Joey Phillips, and Charles Vandervaart! Joey Phillips did not hesitate when we asked his favorite Outlander character… “Claire!” aka Caitriona Balfe. What a smart man!
Maril Davis (Executive Producer) explains why people resonate with Claire and where her character finds her strength. It’s her family.
Behind the scenes, caffeine is essential on set when you’re in hair and makeup for nearly two hours but Outlander’s “Denzell Hunter” (Phillips) tried to mix it up with a little matcha. Izzy Meikle-Small didn’t have to suffer in the makeup and hair chair for too long. She was in and out after a bonnet and foundation application. Charles kept up with their rigorous filming schedule by hitting the sack early! To John Bell’s disappointment. John is the self-designated welcome committee.
When asked about entering the intimidating environment of such a tight cast… both Joey and Izzy stressed that they were welcomed with open arms. John was the man with the plan and loves to show new castmates the best places to shop, eat, and drink. “I just like to have a good time!” He tells The Knockturnal.
And when it comes to group chats? They do exist! And David Berry is feeling excluded. It’s ok David. You’re always welcome to slide into our DMs!
Outlander season 7 is available to stream on STARZ right now!
