Jeremy Scott and MAC Cosmetics Turn Up the Volume at Their New Makeup Line Party

The tunes at Moschino designer Jeremy Scott and MAC Cosmetic’s launch party at Public Arts for their new makeup line collaboration weren’t the only things bumping. Inspired by the supermodel and music scene that took over 1980’s and 90’s lower Manhattan, each product is disguised either as a boom box, a mixtape, and even a CD… remember those?

Scott’s 80’s themed, neon party commenced subsequent to his Fall 2018 runway show on Thursday, Feb. 8th. Public Arts was painted with New York’s unmistakable skyline and was transformed into a gala of flashing LED glasses, festive cocktails, and endless rounds of “Dance Dance Revolution.”

VIP guests included 21 Savage, Keke Palmer, Winnie Harlow, Jasmine Sanders, and Ellen von Unwerth. A special performance by the multifaceted band Ssion, who hails from Scott’s hometown of Kansas City, brought the night to an energetic close.

Scott spent around two years working on the collection. When recently asked why the line took so long to piece together, Scott replied that he wanted the special packaging to outlive the products inside, and to act as an inspired, decorative “living thing.”

The collection features an eye-shadow palette completed with warm-toned neutrals and striking, neon shades, a bold lip palette, and a standard contour trio composed of a champagne-colored highlighter, a peachy blush and a rich, chocolaty bronzer. The varieties of color are arranged in each palette as if to mimic sound frequencies found on a turntable.

According to Scott, music and fashion intersect on a level that may not seem immediately apparent, and claims that makeup is a big connective factor between the two.

The MAC x Jeremy Scott collection is now available for purchase on MAC Cosmetics’ website.
