Isaiah Rashad Breaks Hiatus With Smile

Undoubtedly the quietest member of TDE, Isaiah Rashad has stepped in with a new video and track.

Isaiah’s voice has the ability to play every position on the field, and “Smile” is the perfect showcase. The triplet like flow on the intro and first verse feels natural and slides in snug with the production. Isaiah then transitions to the slowed down, annunciated hook that holds the listeners attention while keeping with that meditative state provided by the beat and first verse. The hushed, melodic vocals that come in at the start then sit in the back for the length of the track play as more counterweight to the abruptness of Isaiah’s flow on the verses.

The visuals, like practically all visuals from TDE, are well done and add so much to the track. The overall grain, mixed with the color choices, gives Isaiah a grimy backdrop that fits and builds on the aesthetic of the song.

This is Isaiah’s second track release in the recent past, “Nelly” being the first. He’s been rather reserved in terms of discography, with Cilvia Demo as his only official full length project. However, if either “Smile” or “Nelly” are indicative of Isaiah’s upcoming album, then fans will be content with a late release date.
