Taking Off: IDID’s I did it, KCON LA Debut & the Fun Introductions

IDID, Starship’s newest boy group, has officially made their mark by debuting with their first album, I did it, and they did so with a track full of bangers. The project features eight strong tracks that showcase both their talent and excitement to perform.

The seven members, Jang Yonghoon, Kim Minjae, Park Wonbin, Chu Yoochan, Park Seonghyeon, Baek Junhyuk, and Jeong Semin, were formed through the survival variety program Debut’s Plan.

After working visibly hard to secure their spots, they are already gaining global recognition. Even before debut, IDID made waves with their pre-stage performance at KCON LA 2025 and their pre-debut single “STEP IT UP,” co-written by Dem Jointz (known for his work with Dr. Dre, Eminem, and Jennie).

The high-energy track introduced the group boldly on one of the biggest festival stages in Los Angeles, setting the tone for their journey. Their phrase, “I did it,” encapsulates both their triumphs in getting where they are now.

The album’s title track, “CHAN-RAN,” which translates to brilliance, radiance, and light in Korean, perfectly mirrors the song’s bright and energetic sound. With an explosive dance performance and vivid visuals, the music video captures the group’s joy and rising momentum.

Within just two weeks of release, the video surpassed three million views. The track also features an impressive rap from Seonghyeon that fans are already praising. Watch the music video below!

Through I did it, IDID frames “moments of youth” in their own unique way, with love and vulnerability. While the youthful, fresh concept sets them apart from many newcomers in the scene, the album also explores deeper contrasts.

“ImPerfect” dives into themes of doubt and realization with a more vulnerable tone, while “STICKY BOMB” bursts with chaotic energy, a track that the members shared is a favorite among them.

The project closes on a lighter note with “Blooming CROWN” and “Taking Off – Through Your Dreams,” two songs filled with airy rhythms and hopeful vibes, perfectly fitting for the beginning of their era.

As IDID steps into the spotlight, we witnessed their impressive KCON LA 2025 performance and later sat down with the group to talk about I did it, their personal “I did it” moments, and their message as a team.

We also got some fun introductions and behind-the-scenes facts about the members, showing fans that this is only the start of something much bigger!

The Knockturnal: Congratulations on your upcoming first album, I did It! Before this release, you shared Step It Up, but this album truly feels like a new level. From your perspective, how does I did It reflect your journey as a debut group? What does the album title mean to you as IDID?

YOOCHAN: If STEP IT UP was the starting point of our challenge, then the album I did it. captures the moment of finally achieving it. Since we’ve turned our dream of debut into reality, the album title itself feels like our story.

The Knockturnal: Stepping into the idol spotlight through the survival show Debut’s Plan, how does it feel to officially be part of this group? What do you each hope to achieve together as IDID?

YONGHOON: It felt like I finally had the chance to pursue my dream, and I promised myself never to let this opportunity slip away. As a group, I hope we can grow both musically and publicly and become a team that stays in people’s memories for years to come.

The Knockturnal: The title track, “제멋대로 찬란하게” (CHAN-RAN), means brilliance, radiance, and light. Why did you choose this name for the song, and do any of the other tracks on the album hold a special meaning for the members?

JUNHYUK: The title reflects our ambition to show fans the most dazzling side of our youth, in our own unique way. Personally, my favorite track is SLOW TIDE.

The Knockturnal: CHAN-RAN also comes with your second music video, which is filled with spontaneous and genuine moments. How did filming this MV compare to your first, choreography-focused video for Step It Up?

YOOCHAN: The STEP IT UP video focused on sharp choreography and our energy, while CHAN-RAN captured more natural moments, us laughing and playing like splashing water to each other together. The filming atmosphere was much more relaxed and fun.

The Knockturnal: Songs like SLOW TIDE and So G.oo.D capture sweet, romantic emotions, while ImPerfect explores vulnerability and self-doubt, but with an uplifting message. Why was it important for IDID to explore such a wide range of emotions on your debut album?

WONBIN: I think it’s very important. Music should give listeners realizations, and to make those realizations resonate deeply, we felt it was essential to include a wide range of emotions.

The Knockturnal: Personally, I love the playful energy of Taking Off and Blooming Crown, especially the line “risk it for the biscuit”!

I’d love to hear from each member: what are your favorite songs on the album, and were there any lyrics or production moments that were especially memorable to you?

SEONGHYEON: My favorite track is ‘STICKY BOMB’ because I had the main parts when performing it on Debut’s Plan. It was fun to hear ‘STICKY BOMB’ in IDID’s vocals while preparing the debut album.

SEMIN: I really like SLOW TIDE, but to mention another, recording STICKY BOMB was unforgettable. Since it’s a song I listened to often, the director complimented me for knowing the details well, which left a strong impression.

The Knockturnal: Since debuting, have any of you experienced an “I did it” moment, something that felt surreal or unforgettable? For example, performing at KCON, meeting fans, or other milestones.

MINJAE: Performing on the KCON stage, where not only Korean fans but also international fans were present, felt surreal and hard to believe.

The Knockturnal: One huge milestone was your appearance at KCON LA 2025. What was it like performing at such a major festival as a new, pre-debut group? Did anything about the international fans or the experience surprise you, and did you get to meet any groups you admire?

SEMIN: First of all, it was such an honor to be on stage, and I felt so happy that such a great opportunity came to us even before our debut. I’ll keep working hard to show you even better performances in the future.

YONGHOON:  To add on, it was an honor to perform on the same stage as MONSTA X, CRAVITY, and other K-POP artists as well – it was a great experience and honor.

The Knockturnal: On a fun note, you’re a newer group, and I would love to get to know more about you. Could each member share a fun fact before we go “Taking Off” into the end of the interview?

YONGHOON: I’m the tallest in the group but have the smallest shoe size compared to the members.

MINJAE: First of all, YONGHOON really loves eating.

As for me, I really love soccer.

WONBIN is very good at cooking,

YOOCHAN is a very humorous guy.

SEONGHYEON knows how to compose music.

JUNHYUK looks a bit like a shark,

And SEMIN has perfect pitch!

The Knockturnal: On another fun note… what’s something small that recently made you feel “so good”? It can be a food, good song, or a show!

MINJAE: . I was really happy to receive a compliment from a lesson I recently had because I practiced really hard.

YOOCHAN: Recently, I felt good when I read messages from our fans. There were times I needed energy, but reading our fans’ messages really cheered me up.

The Knockturnal: As IDID steps further into the spotlight, is there anything you’d like to say to readers or fans who are supporting from the sidelines? A message or something you hope they take from I did It.

YONGHOON: Thanks to our fans’ love and support, I’m excited to debut. Please look forward to seeing IDID’s unique colors through the debut album, I did it.

SEONGHYEON: I’m always grateful for our fans who support us. After the pre-debut period, we are finally debuting soon so I hope you can enjoy it as much as possible since we prepared many things.

IDID has truly done it, and we can’t wait to keep taking off with them on their journey as they continue to ‘step it up’!
