HBO Celebrates ‘Insecure’ Premiere With NYC Block Party [Video]

This past weekend HBO hosted an epic VIP block party in celebration of the upcoming premiere of their new series ‘Insecure’.

The bash took place at The Landing at Industry City in Brooklyn, New York where guests indulged themselves in a variety of foods including The Crabby Shack, The Smoke Joint and Sips & Bites. The party also featured performances from R&B singer BJ The Chicago Kid, Kari Faux and DJ sets from Ms. Nix and Kitty Cash. The show’s cast and crew along with partygoers even got to enjoy a special screening of the first episode.

The comedy series starring The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl’s Issa Rae follows the friendship between two modern-day black women who try to navigate through life while dealing with their real-life flaws and uncomfortable everyday challenges.

The Knockturnal got a chance to chat with star of the show Issa Rae along with Yvonne Orji, Jay Ellis, Lisa Joyce and executive producer and show runner Prentice Penny. The talented bunch talked about their characters, insecurities, the importance of black female friendships, and their reactions to the show’s success.
