Google Hosts Special Guests Grupo Firme and Banda MS at Coachella House

Google hosted a relaxing retreat from the desert during Weekend 1 of Coachella 2022 at their fun house, Casa Google, with special guests Grupo Firme and Banda MS.

Walking into the house, visitors were greeted by modern silver and aqua decor and led out to a Google-themed backyard and pool, equipped with white and orange beach chairs and cabanas. With the mountains looming in the distance, and cool inflatable yellow ducks wearing sunglasses floating by, it was easy to forget the bustle of the ongoing festival and take a break way from it all. The desert oasis, complete with a mini golf course, volleyball court, bocce ball, and tennis court, was interspersed with palm trees and hammocks to further set the scene. Visitors were also served a full breakfast spread, including fruit, muffins, prosciutto, wine, and cocktails to help them recharge throughout the day.

The first of Casa Google’s special guests, Grupo Firme are one of the latest in regional Mexican banda artists bringing the genre to the US mainstream music scene. With the help of bands like Grupo Firme, banda has spread quickly across the US, from the southwest to the Midwest, through Texas, California, and beyond. The group hails from Tijuana, Baja California, and are known for singles like “En Tu Perra Vida” and “Ya Supérame”. As of 7:20pm on Friday, April 15, they became the first banda performers to play at Coachella, and have since released “Sabes a Tequila”, a banda cover of “Watermelon Sugar High”, the hit song by one of Coachella’s 2022 headliners, Harry Styles. Consisting of seven members and led by singer Eduin Caz, the band is showing the world how proud they are of their Mexican heritage while putting songs on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs charts, and becoming a Latin Grammy-winning ensemble with their album Nos Divertimos Logrando Lo Imposible. Grupo Firme is currently on tour, and will be making stops at several US cities throughout this summer and fall.

Banda MS also stopped by Casa Google. Originating from Mazatlán, Sinaloa, Banda MS is well known for popular songs like “El Color de Tus Ojos” and “La Sinvergüenza”. They’ve won numerous awards–Billboard Latin Music Awards, American Music Awards, an IHeartRadio Music Award, Latin American Music Awards, and more. Their album Qué Bendición peaked at number one on the Billboard Latin albums chart. They will be on tour until October, spreading good energy, positivity, and Mexican culture.
