Frank Ocean May Release New Album This Month

After a year of radio silence, Frank Ocean finally stepped back into the fray as his website was updated with ambiguous news regarding his long-awaited third album “Boys Don’t Cry.”

Frank Ocean took the music industry by storm after dropping his first studio album “Channel Orange” in 2012, quickly rising the ranks as one of the most talented R&B artists in the game. His album was so beloved that it quickly sparked speculation on his next album—a contemplation that is still ongoing to this day.

The debate around Ocean’s release of his latest album, so discussed with passion and heat that it almost became a philosophical concept more than a perceived reality, was thrown a fat bone when his website, which has been inactive for what would seem a lifetime, was finally updated last weekend. A single photo has been added, simply showcasing a list of dates, beginning in July of 2015, and ending on July 2016.

The photo sparked justifiable uproar, as Ocean’s newest album was one of the most anticipated things—not only albums, but things—from 2015 that never happened. Now, we come full circle to July of 2016, and again he has hinted at the exact same possibility, and it has initiated not only excitement, but continuous doubt in the validity of Ocean’s promise of new music to come.

Iamsu!, a rapper and producer, teased fans via Twitter about being featured on Ocean’s album, only to recant his statement, saying he had been joking. Iamsu!’s reference to the touchy topic only furthered the skepticism surrounding Frank Ocean’s claim around his newest album being dropped this month. However, if Frank Ocean is feeling generous this year, the people will finally receive the music they’ve been dying to hear.
