Mr. MFN eXquire, one of Hip Hop’s wildest personalities right now, has released a video for his track “Green Ranger” off his last EP Live Forever.
eXquire is a unique kind of rapper, in that he’s definitely one of the most honest hood emcees out right now. He reflects the feelings of comic loving ghetto kids, of which there are a million, without sounding uncomfortable.
When I listen to a track like “Green Ranger”, a trap beat laden with well strung references to video games, TV shows, and comics, I think of the time I saw two guys brawl over the last copy of a specific Naruto chapter in Bay Plaza’s Barnes and Nobles.
While it might sound ridiculous to some, this seemingly odd combination is rooted in some rather somber truth. A lot of parents in the hood limit the time their children spent outdoors for obvious safety reasons and those kids end up absorbing a lot of TV and video games. eXquire exudes this kind of latch-key ghetto child aura while being absolutely ruthless with his flow and rhyme pattern. If there was ever an emcee to evolve the content of trap music, it would be eXquire. He has the talent and the creativity to carve his own lane wherever he goes, and while many might follow in his footsteps, eXquire will most definitely remain the leader.
