Exclusive: The Band Fake A Smile Talk About Being A Rising Band in the UK [Video]

The band Fake A Smile released their first single back in 2020 and have been creating a distinct sound for themselves since.

When the Covid-19 pandemic began, and people everywhere went into lockdown, forcing everyone to stay apart, it had the opposite effect on the group. Growing up on the beaches of Bournemouth before their move to London, both Luka and James reconnected after realizing they missed creating music. The lockdown subsequently helped establish the name for the group during a time filled with uncertainties and a mixture of emotions. All people could do at that time was Fake A Smile. They were also motivated by the band Sticky Fingers, who had a song named Fake A Smile. Since releasing their first song in 2020, the group continues to make music and play at shows, allowing them to develop and build their fanbase. The band’s unique sound compares to artists and groups such as Tame Impala, Arctic Monkeys, Sam Fender, Catfish, and the Bottlemen.

Fake A Smile spoke with our correspondent Rebecca Eugene about their creative process and what’s next for the group. They also talked about lessons they’ve learned from where they first started to now. The group looks forward to developing and evolving their sound, similar to many bands they admire.
