Exclusive: Jane Lynch breathes new life into ‘Weakest Link’ [Video]

It’s hard to believe that The Weakest Link took the UK by storm 20 years ago! Staying tried and true to the original format, NBC USA has brought the show back with universally loved Jane Lynch, at the helm.

Jane is no stranger to being the host with the most. Hollywood Game Night gave her the opportunity to juggle working with both celebrities and contestants in a game show format, resulting in laughter that was often deafening.

Now 60, Jane tells The Knockturnal’s Kinsey Schofield that she hasn’t had to audition for a job in almost 20 years! You know what you’re getting with Jane. A tough cookie. Clever, perhaps cutting, and reliable. Often recognized as Sue Sylvester from the mega-musical hit Glee (2009–2015), Jane’s ability to make you laugh seems more important now than ever before. It’s been a difficult year for Glee fans, it’s been a difficult year across the board. That’s why someone like Jane, who illuminates joy, and fun, and comedy is the perfect host for Weakest Link. Yes, the host has to be tough, but it also has to be someone that you like and you look forward to seeing.

If I’m flipping through the television, Jane Lynch is a face that I stop on. She reminds me of happier times. She reminds me that things are going to be ok. Her presence is warm and she exudes hope and kindness. Whether it’s her objective or not, Jane is comforting.

Will Weakest Link be taxing, include minor backstabbing by contestants, and have you google challenging the results… oh, totally. Jane herself told us that she found herself walking off the set and studying some of the information presented on the show that day! Who knew? Expect some brain busters… but also expect to see one of the hardest working women in show business… who deserves every check that she cashes. Jane Lynch is a national treasure and I will fight anyone that says otherwise.

Weakest Link premieres Tuesday, September 29 on NBC. Check your local listings.

Kinsey Schofield is a contributor to The Knockturnal and you can follow her on TwitterInstagram, or Facebook.
